MAY BE YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DRIVE A 2 WHEEL IN THAILAND ...

Many think (most to tell the truth) that once you have our international license in your pocket you can drive a 2 wheels in Thailand but that is wrong (except for those who have a real motorcycle license).
Indeed the licence up to 125 cm3 is an equivalence but not a real licence.
Certainly you can rent a motorbike, the renters are little looking and if you get arrested the police will not make you a lot of trouble (at worst a small fine but without more).

Where the problem becomes more complex is in case of an accident because if you inflict injury to someone you will have to pay and expensive (whether you are wrong or not, you are foreign...)
Regarding your own injuries and care if you need to be hospitalized your insurance will not cover you because the police report will mention that you do not have a valid license to drive in Thailand.

Many will say, it's been 10 years that I drive and I have never had a problem, or, I come to Thailand every year and everything goes well... yes until....

Up to you to see what you want to do is just a clarification on a legal point that few know but that is real and put in the difficulties many foreigners every year...

If you do not have a real motorcycle license, use taxis or taxis motorbike, there are everywhere, it is very inexpensive and it is safer, especially that driving in Thailand when one is not accustomed and very very dangerous.

Happy holidays....
