QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FAMOUS INTERNATIONAL LICENCE TO DRIVE IN THAILAND...

This is a real question because it is posed everywhere by many people.
Before we could get his international license simply and quickly, it was enough to go to the prefecture, show his license, give a picture and in 8 days the tour was played...
Now it's not the same.
Everything is done online supposedly to facilitate but we wait for the famous permit 1, 2, 3 months or more so much is found.... the beak in the water!

Faced with the questions posed by travellers in distress who will leave without the permit I see a lot of comments that are at least dangerous in their advice.
Indeed we often see "do not worry the renters do not ask anything, say that you forgot it at the hotel and the tour is played they will rent you a car or a motorcycle".
Yes it is true but extremely dangerous because you can have 2 problems:

1) The small problem: you get checked by the police and without international license it is a fine between 500 and 1000 baht.
2) The big one and see very big problem: you have an accident...
Without a license your insurance will not take care of your hospital fees and this can cost you very very much...
On the other hand if you cause damage to a third party you will have to pay and again it can be very very expensive.
Then the landlord, even if he did not ask you anything will be entitled to ask you the reimbursement of repairs of the rented vehicle... again it can be very very expensive...

So... In conclusion: If you do not have your international license do not drive in Thailand.
You will find taxis, taxi motobike, private drivers for cheap, enjoy, do not take risks and sleep quiet...

Good trip...
