BANGKOK... AT RANDOM OF MY BALLADS, BETWEEN BEAUTY AND UNUSUAL...

Bangkok... the city of Angels…

The city of all the contrasts, all the surprises, all the excesses sometimes but a city endearing and full of mysteries if you linger a little.

We can go and see what we call the "must" and it is necessary because there are wonderful things (the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Jim Thompson's house etc...) But we can also linger in lesser known places provided sometimes to go At the right time.

We can cite the Chinatown, when going there in the evening when the activity is in full swing, we are then plunged into another world, a world that moves, that runs, that swarms, that cries, that works... in the midst of colors and odors.

The flower market, going around midnight. You will be immersed in the world of flowers, scents where everyone has a place in this particular trade. Here comes tons of flowers to be prepared, packaged and shipped around the world. A swirl of colors.

You can also take a boat ride along the klongs where you will see a special life. Inhabitants between land and water in often precarious dwellings, mini gardens of 4sqm, to sow some chilies and aromatic herbs, a life apart, that of the people of few who subsist as well as evil within a sprawling megacity.

You can go to Thonburi, also in the klongs but preserved those. Few differences between today and what we could see 50 years ago. Here still resist wooden houses on stilts, orchards, orchid farms and a quiet countryside in the middle of the city. Varans will keep you company... a witness world of the past but until when?

You can go to Silom, the gemstone district and lose yourself in the alleys where tourists do not go to meet small artisans of all kinds.

Let's not forget the neighborhoods of the night with its sulphurous reputation where you can see everything. A reflection of society, a witness of the nature of man, a valve of violence. A universe open to all but very closed finally when you want to dig a little more and know... here wanting to know is not well seen, the goal is to consume, of everything, all the time, without limit.

Too long to describe everything, Bangkok deserves a visiting life to see everything and understand everything.

Here I have gathered moments taken at random of my ballads, faces, expressions, contrasts... more than 160 photos...
