DO I HAVE TO BRING EUROS TO THAILAND OR WITHDRAW ON SITE ?
This question comes back regularly and I would like to give my opinion and... a tip...
As a general rule it is better to bring euros than to withdraw on the spot.
Indeed the costs are less knowing that when one makes a withdrawal there is always between 5 and 6 euros of costs taken by the European Bank + 1 Commission + fees for the Thai bank.
The big problem is that bringing money always presents a significant risk of loss or theft especially when you have to constantly walk your treasure with yourself.
(namely that the limit for having nothing to declare to customs is 9999 euros)
There is however a trick that is to actually calculate what we will need, to withdraw in France and come up with.
Once in Thailand you go to the KRUNGTHAI BANK (there are everywhere, even at the airport). You present your Passport and ask for the issuance of a "miracle Thailand card".
This card allows to be recharged as you wish, so simply deposit your precious loot and you are quiet, you can pay with, withdraw where you want and this only costs 2.60 euros to make the card and 1.30 euro each time you Recharge.
This card is no longer valid once you have left the territory and you will have to redo one if you come back but it is simple and it avoids having liquid on oneself in too much quantity.
Also know that you have discounts on a lot of points of sale and insurance for 7 days covering the accidents...
Good trip...
