PHARMACY KIT TO TAKE IN THAILAND...
I often see questions about the pharmacy kit to take when you come to Thailand.
At the risk of displeasing the anxious, to the question: what should we take? I answer: NOTHING...
Why?
1) Because some medicines are banned in Thailand and that getting caught with at customs can cost very much.
2)
because there are pharmacies everywhere open until very late at night
and every day including Sunday and that pharmacists will easily
understand your problem to give you the right medicine (which is very
cheap compared to Europe). For safety you can explain what you have at
the reception of your hotel which will register you in Thai what to say
to the pharmacist, all you have to do is give the paper.
3)
Because Thailand is not an under developed country and all our
medicines also exist here (often the names are indeed the same).
4)
Because in case you need a doctor there are also everywhere, just ask
your hotel or a taxi that will tell you where is the closest (to note
that their training is very good and that they are also trained by
internships abroad , mainly in the United States and Australia but also
in Europe)
So don't worry, come quietly.
A
tip: Subscribe to hospital insurance, it's cheap and in case of an
accident you will be very well covered. Do not rely on the insurance of
your credit card (many believe it) but it is very largely insufficient
and even if Thailand is a country where life is cheap, hospitals are
very modern see luxurious but also expensive...
