THE 4 THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN THAILAND...
When you arrive in Thailand and from the arrival you have to take care of 4 things:
1) Upon arrival at the hotel take a business card from the hotel and keep it with you.
If this is written in English, ask the lobby to write you the address in Thai.
This precaution will be very useful when you are in town and you take a taxi as most speak a very average English and to end up there is nothing better than the hotel's business card.
2) When you get in a taxi there is always the taxi number on the back doors.
Take a picture with your phone... It takes you a second but in case you forget something in the taxi it will be very useful to find it and contact him...
3) in case of medical emergency have the emergency number on you: It is the 1669 and the national emergency number.
4) concerning the money: Keep on you the bare necessities and leave the rest to your hotel (either in the trunk of your room or in the trunk of the reception)
If you are two, divide up the money and keep it for a share in your bag or banana bag and for a share in your pockets.
Same for bank cards, if you are two take one each and if you are alone take one card and leave the other at the hotel...
These precautions seem obvious but if you respect them this will help you greatly in case of a problem...
Also, put in your wallet a copy of your passport and a small word in evidence with the indication that you are French (or other...) and that the number of your embassy is the........ and the person to be contacted in case of emergency (in France or Elsewhere) is the..... it will also help in case of a problem.
We should not see problems everywhere but prevention is always better than cure...
